Hail
stones can be golf ball or even baseball sized, and fall from about
30,000 feet at 120 MPH. When they hit you, your home, or your business,
the damage can be significant.
Typical hail damage includes roof holes, broken windows, shredded panels, and the water damage which follows.
While it does not normally hail, most any big thunderstorm can
produce hail. Be sure you take safe steps to mitigate your loss by
safely covering holes to prevent further damage. One option to consider
is covering broken windows with plastic, a tarp, or wood panels. Dry
wet items and place them in a dry area so they do not get wet again.
Take
all the reasonable steps you can to document your hail damage by safely
photographing and even videotaping the results. Save all your
documentation including receipts and inventories of damaged property.
Be sure you have pictures of all the damaged property
inside the home too. If you are uncertain about the safety of your roof
or structure, do not place yourself in harm’s way; instead, hire a
contractor or contact a professional Public Adjuster.
