Hail Damage
Imagine a baseball dropped from an airplane flying at 30,000 feet ... imagine that baseball reaching speeds of 120 MPH as it falls to the ground ... and imagine you, or your home or business, is under it!
Hail damage can occur in any strong thunderstorm, which means hail is a threat everywhere. When it hits, it can shred roof coverings and lead to water damage to your ceilings, walls, floors, appliances and personal possessions. Make personal safety your first priority. Remember, windows may be broken and high winds may have knocked down trees and power lines. If you have hail damage to the roof of your property, it is your responsibility to take action to avoid further damage, but only do so if it is safe.
If you can, cover broken windows and holes in roofs with tarps or plywood to prevent water damage. Move wet items to dry grounds, and wash and dry whatever you can. As always take pictures of the Hail Damage to your property. If you're not sure it's safe to get on the roof, hire contractor.
